Our Products

We operate a modern open pit mine and mineral processing plant, meticulously designed to deliver top-quality materials to our global customers. We offer Shawa Vermiculite in five grades consisting of different sizes of thin, flat flakes containing microscopic layers of water.

When heated (to temperatures of up to 1000°C) they expand to many times their original size as the microscopic layers of water turn to steam and force the laminar layers apart. This exfoliated vermiculite is used in the friction brake linings market, high temperature insulation, loft insulation, various construction products, animal feeds, horticulture and many other industrial applications.

A unique aspect of our Large Grade Vermiculite is its fire-resistant and insulating properties make it a valuable resource in the construction industry. It can be used as loose-fill insulation or mixed with cement or plaster to create lightweight, insulating building materials. When combined with gypsum or other binders, vermiculite can be applied as fireproofing material for the construction industry. Additionally, its lightweight nature and ability to absorb sound make it a suitable material for soundproofing walls and ceilings.

Medium Grade Vermiculite

Our Medium Grade Vermiculite is a lightweight and highly absorbent mineral with an expansion rate of 11m3 /tonne.

It is highly versatile and used in many agricultural, hydrophonic farming and horticultural applications. It is commonly used as a soil amendment or component in potting due to its light, porous nature. In horticulture, our Medium Grade Vermiculite is often used in seed germination and propagation, as it promotes the growth of strong roots, provides excellent aeration and drainage while retaining moisture and nutrients for optimal germination.

Fine Grade Vermiculite

Our Fine Grade Vermiculite is a lightweight and porous mineral that is commonly used in horticultural, industrial and agricultural applications. It has an expansion rate 10 m3 /tonne.
Find out more
It is extensively used in seed germination and propagation, as it provides excellent aeration, drainage and moisture retention for better plant growth. It can also be used in in hydroponic gardening, where it helps to maintain a stable growing environment for plants and as a soil amendment to improve soil structure and increase water retention. Due to its excellent thermal insulation properties, Fine Grade Vermiculite has also found many applications in industry, especially as high temperature insulating refractory material in the metallurgical industry.

Superfine Grade Vermiculite

Superfine Grade Vermiculite is obtained by separating natural vermiculite into a finer particle size that has niche applications such as for brake lining friction materials for the automotive industry. Superfine Grade Vermiculite has an expansion rate of 10m3 /tonne.

Its exceptional water retention and heat resistance properties make Superfine an ideal choice. Superfine has many industrial applications, including extensive use in Vermiculite Board production and to produce lightweight concrete and fire-resistant construction coatings. It is also commonly used in high-end horticultural and industrial applications.

Micron Grade Vermiculite

Micron-grade vermiculite is a fine mineral with the smallest particle size that is commonly used in industrial applications. It has an expansion rate of 8m3 /tonne.
Find out more
It is often used in the production of refractory materials as it can withstand high temperatures without breaking down or losing its insulation properties. It can also be used in animal feeds as a carrier for antibiotics and to help improve digestion and nutrient absorption. It is also used extensively in Gypsum Board production, brake linings for cars and commercial vehicles as well as for soundproofing and insulation.
